Home Care for Every Stage of Life

Because the Need for Care Doesn’t Have an Age Limit

When most people think of home care, they picture a senior needing help getting dressed in the morning. And while that is absolutely part of what we do, it is far from the whole picture.

At Ohana Care, we believe that the need for compassionate, professional services and support can arise at any point in life. A young adult navigating a new disability or life-limiting illness. A middle-aged person recovering from surgery. A senior living with dementia. A family caregiver who is simply exhausted. A loved one in their final days who deserves dignity and comfort at home.

Care is not defined by age. It is defined by need.

That is the foundation of everything we do, and it is why Ohana Care provides home care for every stage of life in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Vancouver Island.

Who We Care For

Children & Youth with Special Needs

Families raising children with complex medical needs, life-limiting illness, or disabilities carry an enormous amount of responsibility. Our caregivers provide support that gives both children and their family members breathing room, whether that means non-medical support with daily routines, community participation, or respite for parents who need to recharge.

For families in Alberta, we are also an approved provider under the Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program, which can help offset the cost of care.

Please note: Due to the specialized nature of care plans for children and infants, we encourage family members to contact us directly to discuss specific health situations and how we can help.

Adults with Disabilities (18–64)

Living with a disability does not mean giving up independence; it means finding the right support to live comfortably on your own terms. Ohana Care companions and Health Care Aides work alongside adults with disabilities to provide:

  • Transportation to medical appointments, day programs, and community events
  • Companionship and social engagement to reduce isolation
  • Personal services such as assistance with individual care and daily routines
  • Emotional and intellectual stimulation

Our care providers wear regular clothes, not uniforms,  during visits so clients can move through their community with dignity and discretion.

Adults Recovering from Serious Illness, Injury, or Surgery

Life can change in an instant. A hospital stay, a new diagnosis, a difficult treatment. Any of these can leave even the most independent person needing a helping hand with daily living. Our LPNs and HCAs are trained to step in during these transitions, providing:

  • Vital sign monitoring and medication management
  • Wound care and dressing changes (LPN)
  • Meal preparation and nutrition support
  • Overnight check-ins for those returning home from the hospital
  • Emotional support and companionship during recovery

We are also registered with Veterans Affairs Canada for health services, Veterans Respite, and the Veterans Independence Program.

Seniors & Aging Adults

This is where many people first discover Ohana Care, and it remains the heart of what we do. Whether your loved one is aging in their own home, living in a care facility, or navigating a complex diagnosis, our team is here to provide:

Personal Care

Our team helps with bathing, grooming, dressing, continence care, mobility assistance, and medication reminders, delivered with respect and patience by trained Health Care Aides.

Companion Care

More than just company, our companions provide comfort and support for intellectual, emotional, social, and physical wellness through meaningful activities tailored to each person’s interests and history.

Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease Care

Our caregivers are trained to support those living with cognitive impairment and decline, providing structure, stimulation, and safety while preserving dignity and quality of life.

Palliative Care & End-of-Life Care

When a loved one is nearing the final stages of their life, our Registered Nurses and LPNs offer compassionate, around-the-clock support, providing pain and symptom management, addressing spiritual concerns, and ensuring comfort at home.

Respite Care

Family member caregivers give so much of themselves, and it can begin to affect their own health. Respite care gives you the break you need, whether for a few hours, a vacation, or an extended period, while ensuring your loved one continues to receive consistent, high-quality care.

24-Hour & Live-In Care

For those who require continuous care, we offer both 24-hour rotating care and live-in care options, structured to minimize the number of different caregivers in the home and to maintain routine and familiarity.

The Ohana Care Difference

Relationship-Based, Not Task-Based

We are not a checklist service. Our caregivers are matched to clients based on personality, needs, and preferences, and we require a minimum of four hours per visit so that care is never rushed.

No Contracts. No Minimums.

You are never locked in. Schedule care as often or as little as you need, with no long-term commitments required.
