Veterans Financial Resources

Veterans Independence Program Funding

The Veterans Independence Program (VIP) helps you remain independent and self-sufficient in your home and your community. Depending on your circumstances and health needs, you may qualify for financial assistance.

VIP does not replace other federal, provincial or municipal programs. Instead its role is to complement existing programs to help meet your needs.

You may qualify for VIP, if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • You have qualified for a disability benefit;
  • You have qualified for the War Veterans Allowance;
  • You are in receipt of Prisoner of War Compensation;
  • You are a Veteran who is eligible for, but is unable to access, a Contract Bed (also known as a Priority Access Bed).

Services Covered by VIP

Ohana Care offers a wide array of services covered by the VIP program:

  • Adult Day Program – Recreation services with a therapeutic and community focus;
  • Transportation – To and from the day program;
  • Health and Support Services – Assessments for personal care services;
  • Personal Care – Bathing, dressing, eating;
  • Ambulatory Health Care – Foot care assessment and care;
  • Housekeeping – Errands services, laundry, meal preparation;
  • Grounds Maintenance Services – Snow removal, lawn mowing, leaf raking.

Veterans Affairs Funding

Ohana Care provides mobile foot care to seniors in and around Calgary. As a Veteran, you can benefit from one foot care session per month, covered by the Veterans Affairs. Ohana Care takes care of the billing, meaning all you have to do is let us know when is a good time to come to you! We direct bill the Veterans Affairs using your Veterans K card number, so you don’t have to pay upfront.
