Respite Care is a temporary service provided when the primary caregiver cannot provide care due to being away for personal reasons, or when a drastic change in health occurs. Our Ohana team members fill in, focusing on all dimensions of wellness.
Ohana respite caregivers can assist you in the comfort of your home, take your loved one out in the community for a few hours, or to and from seniors day programs.
Reach out to us and we will get back to you on the same day.
We assess your health care needs and discuss how we can help.
We base it on location, needs, and personal preferences.
When possible, we will send you a form electronically prior to meeting with our Community Manager. This will enable us to focus on what matters to you during our meeting. Respite Care can be requested last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, when this occurs, we will focus our efforts on finding an experienced caregiver you can trust and they can fill in the information as we get to know you.
Questions are divided in different categories:
Sleeping patterns (naps), activity levels, favourite hobbies, meal times, smoking.

Aging Couples
When care taking takes a toll on your body or morale, it's best to ask for additional help. You will still be in control, but you get leisure time to enjoy together!
Returning from the Hospital
This is always stressful after having round-the-clock care. We will give you the privacy and rest you need, and can even help with household chores while you recover.
Living with a Parent with Dementia
If you cannot focus at work because you worry about your parent being alone or need weekend coverage so you can go out or do errands, consider respite care.
Children/Adults with Disabilities
Ohana can provide regular respite care with a consistent caregiver, or punctual needs.
While Waiting for a Care Facility Placement
It will ease the transition for everyone if you start building trust in outside caregivers.
When Going on Holidays or Business Trips
For your peace of mind, we can visit daily, provide 24-hour presence, or even periodic calls throughout the day with a plan of action if there are no answers.
