Can your caregivers use a Hoyer lift?

Yes. Our Health Care Aides are trained in the safe use of mechanical lifts, including Hoyer lifts and sit-to-stand devices. We prioritize safety for both the client and the caregiver during all transfers.

Do you provide nursing care for feeding tubes or ventilators?

Yes. While our Health Care Aides can assist with personal care and mobility, we have Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) available to manage complex medical needs such as G-tube feedings, medication administration, and respiratory support.

Can you help with communication devices?

Our caregivers are patient and willing to learn how to assist with whatever communication tools you use, whether it's a letter board, a tablet, or eye-gaze technology. We ensure you are never rushed when communicating your needs.

Is there a contract?

No. We do not require long-term contracts. At Ohana Care, we understand ALS progresses differently for everyone. As your needs change, you can increase or decrease your ALS home care hours by providing just 24 hours' notice for schedule adjustments.

What if I fall?

Our primary goal is fall prevention through supervision and safe transfer techniques. However, our caregivers are trained in emergency procedures. If a fall occurs, they will follow established protocols, which may include calling emergency services if there is an injury or if they cannot safely assist you up.

Can you help with range-of-motion exercises?

Yes. Passive range-of-motion exercises are often recommended to prevent joint stiffness. Our caregivers can assist with these gentle movements as directed by your physical therapist or occupational therapist.
