Fort Calgary stands as a historic site, presenting a wealth of exhibits about Treaty 7, Métis impact in Alberta and Calgary’s formative years. This museum is a treasure trove of historical insights, offering a window into Calgary’s history.

2. Tour The Lougheed House
Location: 707 – 13 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB T2R 0K8

Daily Hours: Friday – Sunday: 11:30 am – 3 pm
Lougheed House is one of the only surviving examples of a grand sandstone prairie mansion. It was originally built in 1891 by Senator Sir James Alexander Lougheed, a prominent senator, lawyer, and businessman.
This must-see home has opened up its doors to the public so Calgarians and visitors can get a complete tour of the heritage building. Additionally, the magnificent architecture and design of the building reveal unique surprises at every turn.
3. Tour The Calgary Zoo

Cost: $27.95 for Seniors 60+

- Monday – Friday: 10 am – 5 pm
- Saturday – Sunday: 9 am – 5 pm
The Calgary Zoo is a relaxing and awe-inspiring environment to spend time engaging with educational tours, gardens, and wildlife. The zoo offers a casual yet stimulating walking experience amidst the habitats of various animals, making it a great place for light exercise and mobility.
Additionally, The Calgary Zoo is a wonderful place for seniors to visit with friends, grandchildren, or fellow seniors, fostering deeper relationships and creating cherished memories.
4. Calgary Public Library
Cost: Free
The Calgary Public Library is an excellent place for seniors as it offers a wealth of resources and activities, including free access to books, newspapers, and digital media. Additionally, they offer community-driven events, such as book clubs, educational workshops, and social gatherings, that provide opportunities for learning and social interaction in a welcoming and intellectually stimulating environment.

5. Join the FLC Seniors Club

The FLC Seniors Club is a non-profit organization located in the Trico Centre for seniors over the age of 55 and their spouses over the age of 50. The club currently has nearly 3,000 members and is the largest senior organization in Western Canada.
The FLC Seniors Club serves as a social nexus that allows seniors to forge new friendships and remain socially active, reducing feelings of isolation that may occur with age. The club offers 31 activities, some of which include acting, bridge, golf, yoga, and much more.
