Calgary, AB – Ohana Care is proud to announce that its Alberta operations have officially earned Accreditation from Accreditation Canada, a nationally recognized organization that evaluates health and community care providers based on rigorous quality and safety standards.
This milestone reaffirms Ohana Care’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and compassionate in-home care for Albertans who wish to remain in the comfort of their own homes. By completing Accreditation Canada’s in-depth review process, Ohana Care has demonstrated that its policies, training, and service delivery meet or exceed national standards for excellence in home care.
“For families choosing in-home care, trust is everything,” says Melissa Therrien, RN, General Manager of Ohana Care. “Earning Accreditation means that every part of our care process — from hiring and training to safety protocols and documentation — has been independently reviewed and approved. Families can feel confident knowing that their loved one’s care meets the highest professional standards in Canada.”
Accreditation Canada’s evaluation process includes a detailed review of an organization’s governance, client safety, infection prevention, medication management, and staff education practices. Achieving this recognition underscores Ohana Care’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and quality improvement in every client interaction.
For families across Alberta, this means greater peace of mind — knowing that Ohana Care’s trusted team of caregivers and nurses are supported by a framework built on best practices and continual improvement.
“We pursued this accreditation because families deserve to know their loved ones are receiving care that’s been tested and verified by an independent body,” adds Therrien. “It’s part of our promise to uphold the same standards of care we’d expect for our own family members.”
Ohana Care provides a full range of in-home services — from companionship and personal care to dementia support and post-surgical recovery — with offices in Calgary and Edmonton. The company is also an approved agency for Alberta’s Client Directed Home Care Invoicing Program (CDHCI), offering families direct billing and flexible options for government-supported care.
