Our in-home care includes:
At Ohana Care, we are not just service providers; we truly care about the well-being of our clients. As a trusted partner in your care journey, every care plan is meticulously overseen by our dedicated Registered Nurse, Melissa Therrien, ensuring the highest standard of care.
We choose our caregivers very carefully and hold them to the highest of standards. They undergo regular training sessions to ensure they provide exceptional care to each and every client.
Our care plans are flexible and can be tailored to suit your unique requirements. Since we’re relationship-based and not task-oriented, we require a minimum of four hours per visit.
We assess your healthcare needs and discuss how we can help.
We base it on location, needs, and personal preferences.
Going from 24/7 assistance to being alone can be unsafe and scary. LPNs and HCAs can help you cope with your return and set you up for a speedy recovery.
Daily check-ins, company, accompaniment to medical appointments, driver to go to social activities, errands, help around the house, presence when contractors come in (landscape, electricians, plumbers, etc.), assistance with activities of daily living, regular home risk consultations, and help with technology.
Respite for the primary caregiver, help around the house, companionship during social activities, intellectual stimulation, transportation to and from a day program, and guidance for the senior living with dementia to assist with chores.
If family caregivers are increasingly frustrated and tired or hurt themselves, there are now two clients. We can care for the household and assist with chores to alleviate stress and give everyone time to enjoy each other’s company!
Ohana Care can send caregivers for short-term contracts as well.
New medications can sometimes lead to unwanted side effects, and conducting daily wellness checks may not be feasible. Our LPNs and HCAs can provide assistance by monitoring your vitals, skin, moods, balance, and more. Additionally, they are equipped to provide care if you have severe nausea, get very weak, are at risk of falling, or if your judgment is impeded.
We’re registered with the Veterans Affairs for health services, Veterans Respite, and Veterans Independence Program.
Typically, a Health Care Aide will spend more time with clients, getting them ready in the morning, assisting with breakfast, and providing medication reminders. Our Health Care Aides also support our client's quality of life by changing bedding, doing laundry, respecting their regular routine, and being a companion.
Health Care Aides also serve as companions when clients experience “Unscheduled Care Needs,” which refers to requiring assistance throughout the day that cannot be scheduled. These needs include incontinence, transfers, asthma pumps, PRN medication (aches, diarrhea, constipation, headaches), and more.
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) primarily concentrate on the medical aspects of client care. Their visits may be as brief as one hour, during which they ensure there aren’t any significant changes in the client’s health, verify that HCAs are adhering to the care plan, assist with more complex care needs, and assess the client’s overall well-being. LPNs may only visit clients immediately following their discharge from the hospital or when implementing a new care plan.
In our initial meeting, we will collaboratively assess what suits you and your family best. We will consider factors such as gender, medical conditions, and any additional requirements. If at any point you are dissatisfied with the caregiver entering your home, please let us know as soon as possible. It's important you feel safe and respected and know you are in control of the situation.
We charge for a minimum of four hours, but we encourage you to make the most of this time. During this period, we can perform a home safety check, wash the dishes, fold laundry, inspect items in the refrigerator to ensure they haven’t expired, assist with phone calls, help type emails, and other basic care needs. However, some exceptions may apply to the minimum hours. Book your free consultation to find out more.
